Logistics for Travellers

Basic information on travel to the conference is provided below. Direct any questions or concerns regarding your travel logistics to Trang Nguyen (trang.nguyen(at)cgiar.org).

Accomodations

A room has been reserved for you at the H10 Citta Hotel (the conference venue).
Via Amedeo Avogadro, 35 00146, Rome
Tel: (39) 06 556 52 15
Website: http://www.hotelh10romacitta.com/en/index.html

Bioversity will cover the room cost (breakfast is included) and city taxes, NOT extras. You will be provided with a per diem to cover for your meals and any other extras.

Getting to the Hotel from the Airport

Instructions to get between the hotel and the airport are available in the Getting There section.

Transportation to and from the airport in Rome and your point of departure will be reimbursed by Bioversity International. Please remember to keep the ticket/receipt for reimbursement. Also remember to keep the receipt on the journey to the airport at your original point of departure.

Visas

Participants travelling from abroad should be in contact with Trang Nguyen (trang.nguyen(at)cgiar.org) regarding whether they require a visa and to coordinate the application. The cost of your visa fee will be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt.

Currency Exchange

If you need cash urgently, you can change money at the airport. There are several Money Exchange booths in the baggage claim area after passport control. Be aware though that the exchange rate might not be very favourable and that you might have to pay a surcharge for the operation. The cheapest option is to withdraw local currency at any ATM machine, provided your credit card/debit card is authorized for use in foreign countries.

Per Diem

Participants travelling to Rome from abroad are entitled to a Per Diem, which will consist of 15,00 Euros for lunch and 30,00 Euros for dinner (when those are not provided by Bioversity), plus incidentals of 10,00 Euros per day. Lunches and coffee will be provided during the meeting and social dinners will be held on the first and second days of the conference (April 27 and 28).

Other Costs

Any other costs related to travel for this workshop will be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt.

Security

Like many other large cities in the world, Rome has its share of personal security problems and you are advised to take the necessary precautions to avoid being the victim of crime. Beware of pickpockets and never leave your baggage unattended, even for a moment. Keep your money close to you in a money belt or similar secure place. Briefcases and wallets do get snatched at the airport, railway station or on the metro.
