This paper aims to contribute to the discussion around typical features of NUS by critically analyzing the status of an expert-informed list of underutilized food crops in Latin America. It also discusses the extent to which existing international policy and legal frameworks dealing with wild and cultivated biological diversity effectively support the conservation and sustainable use of underutilized crops’ genetic resources.
